There is an overwhelming amount of SEO tools and website creation software tools available. Some work well while many are just plain lemons.

Below is the list of SEO tools I use and recommend. Most of these applications have a free edition or at least a trial version available, if you are prepared to 'go it alone' and do DIY SEO. Some of these SEO utilities are overkill for the smaller website; others are underpowered for larger sites.


SEO Tools

WebCEO. All purpose SEO tool. Preferred by many professional search engine optimizers. My main tool for volume exercises.

LinkSurveys. Important tool for analysing your competitor's inbound links and finding potential sites to link to you.

ClickTracks. Used by many higher end webmasters for traffic analysis. Comprehensive but expensive.


Website Design Tools

SiteBuildIt!  The most successful website design tool for small businesses. You won't need anything else to get your website running. Their user forums are an extremely helpful resource.

Dream Weaver. Best HTML editor for most applications.

DotNetNuke (DNN). Web-based open source website authoring tool for those with no budget. Assistance might be required by the non-technical with setup. (This site is an example of a DNN site, using a default skin).
